Funeral services for John Alvin Moore, 71, of Mt. Airy, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27, at Baldwin Congregational Holiness Church with the Rev. Sanford Kimbrell, the Rev. Jesse Whitworth and the Rev. Kendall Mann officiating. Burial followed in East View Cemetery, Mt. Airy.

Mr. Moore died Friday, Feb. 24, 2012.

Born Jan. 20, 1941, in Habersham County, he was the son of the late Hemmon Patrick and Phillip Inez Pruitt Moore.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Williams Moore; son, Casey Moore; and brothers, Talmadge and Phillip Moore.

Mr. Moore was a retired truck driver for Haynes Trucking Company, with 30 years of service, and a former truck driver for Fieldale Farms with several years of service. He attended Baldwin Congregational Holiness Church. 

Survivors include daughters, Lisa Gibbs of Alto, Rachel Moore of Clarkesville, and Mollie Renee Moore Hicks of Demorest; son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Ann Marie Moore of Cleveland; sisters, Mollie Sue Mote of Baldwin, and Reta Ballew of Alto; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
