Funeral services for Larry Jennings Swain, 76, of Baldwin, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, at the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with Pastor Jesse Colbert officiating.

Mr. Swain died Friday, May 11, 2012, at his residence.

Born in Hunnington, W.Va., on July 21, 1935, he was the son of the late John and Lillian Gibson Swain.

Mr. Swain was a well-known self- employed landscape architect, who enjoyed designing Bonsai trees. He was of the Christian faith and was an avid bowler and golfer. Mr. Swain served his country proudly in the United States Air Force.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Jean Swain of the home; daughter, Dr. Linda Scott of Baldwin; son, Kenneth Rutzke of Palm Beach, Fla.; sisters, Rita Allen of Huntington, W.Va., and Sue Hodgson of Ontario, Canada; grandchildren, Katherine Judson, Dawn Bush, Kenneth Rutzke Jr. and Adam Rutzke; and nine great-grandchildren.
