Funeral services for Laura Osborne York, 90, of Clarkesville were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at Hillside Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Trent Smith and the Rev. Billy Burrell officiating. Burial followed in Demorest City Cemetery.

Mrs. York died July 17, 2012, at Habersham Medical Center.

Born April 9, 1922, she was the daughter of the late William Reuben and Genivie Lynch Osborne. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Edward York; son, Carroll Reuben York; brother, Floyd Cranford Osborne; and sister, Lillie Osborne Stewart.

Mrs. York was a licensed cosmetologist and she also worked at Piedmont Automotive.

Survivors include her daughter, Dorthea Harkins (Billy) of Clarkesville; sons, Edward Lafayette York (Hazel) of Demorest and David Monroe York (Terri) of Valdosta; as well as eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
