Mr. Colston died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born April 7, 1924, in Habersham County, he was a son of the late William Monroe and Violet Forrester Colston. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sister-in-laws, Floyd and Florence Colston, Claude and Estelle Colston, Ray and Naomi Colston; and a brother, Chester Colston.
Mr. Colston served proudly in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired after 33 years of service as a welder with WEBCO Industries. He also enjoyed spending time on his farm raising cattle. Mr. Colston was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Nora Church Colston; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Stanley Perry, son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Bonnie Colston, all of Demorest; stepmother, Lola Robinson Colston of Alto; brother and sister-in-law, Homer and Jessie Mae Colston of Demorest; sisters-in-law, Dottie Colston of Demorest, Olline Turner of Clarkesville, Sara Church Stuart, Louisiana; grandchildren, Dex and Kim Colston of Sarasota, Fla., Libby and Greg Smith of Suwanee, Amber and Michael Dorsey of Cleveland, Dennis and Gail Gravitt of Dawsonville, Bill and Gloria Taylor of Cumming; great-grandchildren, Dexter Colston Jr., Summer Colston, Carter Smith, Wyatt Dorsey, Garrett Dorsey, Wesley Gravitt, Kelsey Gravitt, and Whitney Bennett; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial donations may be made in Hoyt’s memory to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
