Mrs. VanHook died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at her residence following an extended illness.
Born Nov. 6, 1924, in Murphy, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Nathan Alonzo and Della Carroll McDonald. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Morris Thompson; second husband, Roger A. VanHook; and sons, Morris Caney Thompson and Nathan Condon Thompson.
Mrs. VanHook was a member of Oakey Mountain Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Kay Thompson English and Jimmy English of Demorest; granddaughters, Anna English Cahill of Demorest, Cindy Kay Ewalt of Marietta, Ill.; grandson, Caney Jim English of Demorest; great-grandchildren, Alex English, Daniel English, Maverick English, Jesse English, Mason Ewalt; brother, Tommy McDonald of Forest Park; sisters, Willie Mae Weaver of Dillard; Shirley Keller of Clarkesville; many nieces, nephews and friends.
