Coy ‘Pa’ Sosebee

Funeral services for Coy “Pa” Sosebee, 84, of Clarkesville, were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Trotter and the Rev. Kenneth Pilcher officiating. Burial followed in Stonepile Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. Sosebee died Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at his residence.

Born June 12, 1928, in Banks County, he was the son of the late Tom and Beulah Brown Sosebee. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Lee Nations Goss Sosebee; sons, Robert Eugene “Gene” Goss, Frank Goss and Randolph Goss; daughters, Linda Faye Goss and Betty Jean Burton; brothers, Otis Thomas Sosebee, Richard Dave Sosebee and Clarence Clyde Sosebee; sisters, Thelma Sosebee, Gertrude English and Maybelle Farmer.

Mr. Sosebee was a member of Old Nacoochee Missionary Baptist Church and was a hardworking sawmiller. He was a strong Christian man who enjoyed picking his guitar. He loved his family unconditionally and was a wonderful “Pa” to his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughters, Mary Umbehant of Clarkesville, Ruby Lee Farmer of Cornelia, Mae Jones of Clayton, Frances Free of Alto and Geneva Reece of Clarkesville; 30 grandchildren; numerous great- and great-great- grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
