Funeral services for John A. Anderson, 77, of Eastanollee, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with the Rev. Larry Ryals officiating. A private graveside service will be held at a later date with military honors.

Mr. Anderson died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Stephens County Hospital.

Born Jan. 5, 1936, in Habersham County, he was the son of the late Clarence E. and Ruby Lee Dickerson Anderson. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Sue Hicks, Martha Mannikko and Kathlean Anderson.

Mr. Anderson was a United States Air Force veteran, having proudly served as a medic. He was a retired federal employee in Washington, D.C., with 20 years of service and also taught school for a number of years. Mr. Anderson was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his sisters, Lou Ellen Rich of Baldwin, and Judy Tanksley of Cornelia; sister and brother-in-law, Lee and Bill Thompson of Marietta; brother, Harold “Bud” Anderson of Alto; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Polly Anderson of Norcoss, James and Delores Anderson of Tucker, Paul and Theresa Anderson of Flowery Branch, Simon Peter and Janet Anderson of Mt. Airy, David “Andy” and Emily Anderson of Cornelia, and Daniel and Joy Anderson of Eastanollee; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday.
