Jimmy Lynn “Jim” Holmes, 76, of Demorest, formerly of Los Angeles, Calif., died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013.

Jim wished to be remembered as he was known to others. A private service will be held following his cremation. He will be honored, Native American style.

Born March 2, 1936, in Cape Girardeau, Mo., he was the son of the late Lynn H. and Verna B. Watson Holmes. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in the Vietnam Conflict. Jim was an electronic missile repairman.

Survivors include his daughters, Evelyn Gould of Fairfield, Calif., Barbara Washick of Fairview Heights, Ill., and Lynn Holmes of Florida; brothers, Dale Holmes of Jacksonville, Fla., and Ernest Holmes of Demorest; and five grandchildren.

Jim had a great sense of humor and was a fierce friend. He will be dearly missed by those who knew him and loved him.
