Funeral services for Valerie Lathan Galloway, 74, of Mt. Airy, were held at 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at Hazel Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Austin Kelley, the Rev. Billy Burrell and the Rev. Chad Parham officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Galloway died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at her residence.

Born June 29, 1938, in Habersham County, she was a daughter of the late Dawson and Dorothy Cash Lathan. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her brother, Carl W. Lathan; and brothers-in-law, Eugene Allen and James Gosnell.

Ms. Galloway was a machine operator and housekeeper, having worked at Carwood Manufacturing and Global Tech. She was a member of Hazel Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Larry Loggins of Demorest and Joyce and David Abbott of Alto; daughter, Brenda Galloway of Mt. Airy; son and daughter-in-law, Mack and Missy Galloway of Demorest; son, Donald Galloway Jr.; sisters, Louise Allen of Mt. Airy and Betty Gosnell of Cornelia; brother, E.J. Lathan of Mt. Airy; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
