Funeral services for Oscar John ‚“O.J.” Allen Jr., 70, of Demorest, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 3, at Hill’s Crossing Baptist Church with the Rev. Walter Singletary, the Rev. Roy Lee Mitchell, the Rev. Greg Pruitt and Dusty Allen officiating. Burial followed in Habersham Cemetery, Demorest.

Mr. Allen died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.

Born in Habersham County, he was the son of the late Oscar John Allen Sr. and Carrie Addis Allen. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Ella Rea Barfield, and a great-grandson, Carson McLeod.

Mr. Allen was a retired supervisor from Piedmont Automotive and worked with Southern Switches. He was a member of Hill’s Crossing Baptist Church, Clarkesville.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Free Allen of Demorest; daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila Hill (Tim) of Hollywood, and Dawn McEntire (Ricky) of Mt. Airy; sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell Allen (Diane) of Demorest, Dean Allen (Tisha) of Lula, Jason Anderson (Carey) of Clarkesville; sisters, Carrie Jane Adair of Lula, Sandra Jones of Demorest; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mae Benfield (Curtis) of Hollywood, Anne Burke (Willard) of Clarkesville; grandchildren, Hannah Wilbanks, Dusty Allen, Leah Cunningham, Zach Hill, Dana McLeod, Jacob Hill, Austin Allen, Bliss Allen, Madison McEntire, Samuel Anderson, Skylar McEntire, Aubrey Anderson; and great-granddaughter, Anna Leigh McLeod.
