Funeral services for Martha Jane Flanagan, 96, of Cornelia, were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 24, at the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. George Dean and the Rev. Scott Ledbetter officiating. Burial followed in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Flanagan died Friday, March 22, 2013, at Habersham Medical Center.

Born Nov. 11, 1916, in Habersham County, she was the daughter of the late William and Lenoria Pauline Greemon Erwin. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, John Vance Flanagan Sr.; daughters, JoAnn and Audrey Flanagan; sons, Leroy, John Vance Jr., Woodrow and Carl Flanagan. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Flanagan was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and was retired from Carwood Manufacturing. She was loved by her children, grandchildren, friends and extended family and enjoyed spending time with everyone.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Rosalee and Curtis Savage of Alto; sons and daughters-in-law, John D. and Pat Flanagan of Alto, Guy and Geraldine Flanagan of Woodruff, S.C.; son, Jackie Flanagan of Cornelia; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren ;and two great-great-grandchildren.
