Funeral services for Jack Lee Howard, 81, of Gainesville, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1, in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. Mr. Dick Mecum will serve as the speaker.

Mr. Howard died Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born May 15, 1932, in Dayton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Forrest Glen and Pauline Hurley Howard.

Mr. Howard was a captain in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He had lived in Gainesville since 2003 and was a former resident of Habersham County. He was retired from Pratt Whitney Company. Mr. Howard was a member at Lakewood Baptist Church and the Wisdom Seekers Sunday school class.

Mr. Howard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary B. Howard of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Barbara Howard of Murphy, N.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Mack Ashley of Gainesville; daughter, Christine Howard of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Aubrey and Lindsey Brown, Jordyn Howard, Kyle London, Nicolette Ashley, Spencer Smith, Aaron and Lindsey Smith; three great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Wisdom Seekers Sunday School Class, Lakewood Baptist Church, 2235 Thompson Bridge Rd., Gainesville, GA 30501.

The family will receive friends at the daughter’s house, Ann Ashley, 5041 Southern Trace, Gainesville, after 7 p.m. today, May 31.
