Funeral services for Jessie Jackson “Klondike” Meaders, 49, of Mt. Airy, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 23, at New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. David Sosebee officiating. Burial followed in New Hope Baptist Church cemetery

Mr. Meaders died Friday, June 21, 2013, at Stephens County Hospital.

A son of Ferne Simmons Meaders and the late Jackson Thomas Meaders, he was born Aug. 23, 1963, in Habersham County, where he lived his entire life.

He was a concrete truck driver for many years, was a member at New Hope Baptist Church, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his mother, Ferne Simmons Meaders of Mt. Airy; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Becky and William Fisher of Clarkesville, and Teresa and Glenn House of Mt. Airy; brother and sister-in-law, Danny “Tom” Meaders and Sheila Meaders of Toccoa; nieces, Erin Higgins of Clarkesville, and Alisha Cantrell of Gadsden, Ala.; and great-nephew, Desmond Jackson Higgins.
