Funeral services for Stanley Alan Plum, 62, of Alto, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with the Rev. Steve Doran officiating. Burial followed in Alto Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Georgia National Guard and Habersham County American Legion Post No. 84, Rabun County DAV Chapter 15 and Grant Reeves VFW Post No. 7720.

Mr. Plum died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, following a brief illness.

Born Aug. 29, 1950, in St. Louis, Mo., he was the son of June Plum of Alto and the late William G. “Bill” Plum. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Wayne Plum.

Mr. Plum was a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country in the Vietnam conflict. He retired as a self-employed welder fabricator.

Survivors include his mother, June Plum of Alto; daughter and son-in-law, Shana and Jeffrey Tanksley of Mt. Airy; son and daughter-in-law, William and Christie Plum of Louisiana; sisters, Candice E. Plum of Alto, and Sylvia H. Dillon of San Diego, Calif.; and three grandchildren, Chesney Tanksley, Haley Plum and Peyton Plum.
