Mr. Liebhauser died Aug. 26, 2013, at Habersham Medical Center following a period of declining health.
Born Oct. 24, 1924, in Port Monmouth, N.J., he was the son of the late Charles and Theresa Liebhauser. He also was predeceased by a son, Robert Liebhauser, and a brother, Cmdr. Charles Liebhauser, USN.
Mr. Liebhauser retired from the Dade County Public Schools, Miami, Fla., where he was a public school administrator. He was a life member of VFW Post 7720, where he was commander of the honor guard and an officer. He was a Marine Corps veteran, having served during World War II and the Korean War. He was a life member of the First Marine Division Association. Mr. Liebhauser served as a Boy Scout and a Scout Leader for 65 years. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Mark Council 13491. He graduated from Seton Hall University and had a master’s degree from Florida Atlantic University. He was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Audrey Liebhauser; daughter, Patricia Liebhauser of Atlanta; daughter, Kathryn Murphey and husband Milledge of Gainesville, Fla.; son, Edward Liebhauser Jr. and wife Karen of Huntington Beach, Calif.; son, Keith Liebhauser and wife Lori of Sumner, Wash.; and grandchildren, Dylan, Cory and Carly.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, with rosary at 8 p.m.
