A graveside committal for Muriel C. Brownwell, 89, of Cambridge, N.Y., at West Hoosick Cemetery will be scheduled at the convenience of the family.

Mrs. Brownell died Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, after a brief illness, at the Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation, Hoosick Falls, N.Y., surrounded by family.

It was her firm belief she would be raised to glory at Christ’s second coming.

Born Sept. 19, 1923, in Lawrence, Mass., she was the youngest daughter of the late Rev. Arthur and Elizabeth (Frantz) Sweet.

On March 31, 1945, she married Gordon E. Brownell, who preceded her in death in January 1984. Muriel also was preceded in death by her siblings, Esther Pennock, Louis Sweet, Arthur “Bud” Sweet Jr. and Myrtle Eastman.

Mrs. Brownell worked alongside her husband on the family farm in Groveside, where together they raised four daughters. After Gordon’s death, she moved to Clarkesville where she made many close friends. Muriel’s deep faith in God and devotion to family was evident in her interactions with others.

Muriel’s many interests included art and crafts, ceramics, reading, doll collecting, and coordinating get togethers for friends and family. Muriel had a love for travel and was thankful for her trips and experiences.

She is survived by her four daughters and sons-in-laws, Patricia and Philip Peeler of East Haddam, Conn.; Nancy Hallford of Port Saint Lucie, Fla.; Susan and Raymond Morin of Groveside, N.Y.; and Beth and Charlie Leeseman of Manchester Center, Vt.

Muriel was proud to tell others of her nine grandchildren: Michelle Patch, Stacey Waddle (Michael), Matthew Morin (Lin), Lesley Perrone (John), Gregory Morin (Shannon), Jennifer Reidy (Sean), Kevin Bushey (Emily), Kate Bushey, and Adam Bushey (Chelsey); and nine great-grandchildren: David, Logan, Colton, Michael, Sadie, Hannah, Kylianne, Keirra and Chasity, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Contributions in Muriel’s memory may be made to the West Hoosick Fire Department, Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Hollywood, or an organization of your choice through the Mahar Funeral Home, Hoosick Falls, N.Y.
