Funeral services for Imogene “Gene” Irvin Batson, 85, of Demorest, are scheduled for 2 p.m. today, Feb. 28, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with Dr. Tom Mewborn officiating. Burial will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Batson died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014.

Born Oct. 30, 1928, in Demorest, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Bertha London Irvin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles T. Batson; sister, Midge Erwin; and brothers, Billy Irvin and Crawford Irvin.

Mrs. Batson was a graduate of Piedmont College with a bachelor of arts degree. She was member of Demorest Baptist Church; she was a homemaker and a former co-owner of Lane’s Food Store. Mrs. Batson was a devoted mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Bruce Glenn of Watkinsville; son, Lane Batson of Clarkesville; grandchildren, Michael and wife Stephanie Batson, Katie Glenn, Meredith Glenn, Stephanie Lott; great-granddaughter, Caroline Jones; two other great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour today, Feb. 28.
