Mr. Colegrove died Feb. 25, 2014, at a nursing home in Bremerton, Wash., after a five-month battle with malignant pleural mesothelioma. Mr. Colegrove was a 1960 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, retiring from active service in 1979.
He was predeceased by his parents in 1973 and 1986.
He is survived by his brother, Dr. DeForest William Colegrove Jr., of Belen, N.M. Also surviving are his three adult children: daughter, Melanie (son-in-law Michael) O’Connell, grandsons Lance Cpl. Sean O’Connell, U.S. Marine Corps, and Nathan and Daniel O’Connell, of Poulsbo, Wash.; son, Dr. Eric (wife Colleen) Colegrove and grandchildren Evan and Brianna, of Demorest; and son, Dr. John (wife Dr. Ruthie) Colegrove and granddaughters Savannah and Dallas, of Peachtree Corner.
