Mr. Caudell died Sunday, March 2, 2014, at his residence.
Born Dec. 13, 1937, in Banks County, he was a son of the late Lee and Myrtle Ausburn Caudell. In addition to his parents, Mr. Caudell was also preceded in death by a brother, Harold Caudell.
Mr. Caudell was the owner and operator of The Steak House in Baldwin for 43 years and was a member of Baldwin Baptist Church. He also was a poultry farmer who proudly grew for Fieldale Farms and was honored as the first grower of Springer Mountain Farms.
Since 1972, Mr. Caudell was a dedicated member of the Habersham County Rotary Club, where he was awarded 39 years of perfect attendance in 2011. He was also a member of the Banks County Cattleman’s Association and the American Legion. Mr. Caudell was an avid NASCAR and University of Georgia football fan. He also had served in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Chan and Tammy Caudell of Cornelia; daughter and son-in-law, Tora Caudell-Pierce and Jerrie of Monroe; mother of his children, Linda Caudell of Baldwin; grandchildren, Gracie and Smith Caudell, Chasen, Zara, Adrian and Clay Pierce; great-grandchild, Brayden Beddington; brother, Mack Caudell of Baldwin; and sister, Mary Lou Meister of Baldwin.
