Funeral services for Farry Lee Gibby, 92, of Conyers, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22, at Scot Ward’s Green Meadow Chapel with Pastor Doug Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Gibby died at his home on Monday, March 17, 2014, after an extended illness.

He was the son of the late Oscar Lee and Bessie Payne Gibby of Habersham County. He also was preceded in death by 10 siblings, Calloway Gibby and Hester Loudermilk, both of Mt. Airy, Joe Gibby of Spartanburg, S.C., Gladys Webb, Ethel Taylor and Lizzie Burris, all of Elberton, Homer Gibby of Morrow, Clyde and Lewis Gibby of Cornelia, and Ruth Faulkner of Marietta.

Mr. Gibby was retired from the Atlanta Post Office, where he was manager of Administrative Services. He was a member of Heritage Hills Baptist Church and Men’s Adult Sunday School Class. He was a veteran of World War II, having served as engine mechanic and flight engineer on a B-17 Flying Fortress. His overseas duty took him all the way around the world.

Mr. Gibby is survived by his wife of 68 years, the former Velma Lewis of Douglas; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Daniece Gibby of Little Rock, Ark., and Don and Judy Gibby of Riverdale; two grandsons, Chris Gibby and Scott and wife, Agnes Gibby; and great-granddaughter, Ella Kate Gibby.
