Funeral services for Helen Thomason King, 94, of Cornelia, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with Dr. Tom Mewborn officiating. Burial followed in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. King died Saturday, March 29, 2014, following a period of declining health.

Born Nov. 22, 1919, in Lakemont, she was the daughter of the late Marion and Ila Mae Sloan Thomason. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Lee King Sr.; daughter, Sylvia King Bowen; sister, Annie Mae Thomason Meeks; brothers, Leslie Thomason, Harry Lee Thomason and Rhoda Thomason.

Mrs. King was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She was previously employed with Chicopee. Mrs. King was a very dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Bill Wyke of Andrews, N.C., Louise and Howard Williams of Demorest, Susan and Bobby Watson of Demorest; son and daughter-in-law, Lee Jr. and Dot King of Mt. Airy; sister, Blanche Ward Tavander of Charleston, S.C.; brothers, Grady Thomason of Tucker, Charles Thomason of Columbus, Bill Thomason of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Sheila Williams, Shannon Hill, April Miller, Robin Moser, Beth Grimes, Judd Wyke, Dean Bowen, Ben Bowen, John King, Andrew King; and 11 great-grandchildren.
