A private memorial service will be held at a later date for Charles David Wilkie, 50, of Toccoa.

Mr. Wilkie died May 24, 2014, after an extended illness, at Heritage Healthcare of Toccoa.

A son of the late Mildred and James Wilkie of Miami, Fla., he was born Dec. 1, 1963, in Miami, Fla. and moved to Cornelia in 2001 after sustaining an injury.

He attended Cornelia United Methodist Church, was a graduate of Miami Norland Senior High School and worked for TruGreen Chemlon in Sunrise, Fla.

Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Richard Rumbold of Cornelia; son, Charles J. Wilkie of Miami, Fla.; cousins, Beth Bergmann and Scott Morley.

The family wishes to express thanks to all who have been kind to him throughout the years and especially to Dr. Alan Harben of Roswell, Dr. Mark Cohen of Atlanta and Dr. Jim Wade of Toccoa, friends from the Brain Injury Association of Georgia, and the caring personnel at Heritage Healthcare of Toccoa.

In lieu of flowers or cards, the family is requesting donations be made to Cornelia United Methodist Church, 275 Wyly Street, Cornelia, GA 30531 or the Brain Injury Association of Georgia, braininjurygeorgia.org.
