Funeral services for Harvey Jackson Adams, 86, of Clarkesville, are scheduled for 2 p.m. today, July 11, at Hillside Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Billy Burrell and Whit Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Gardens Cemetery. Full military honors will be provided by the United States Navy, the Georgia Military Honors Funeral Team and Grant Reeves VFW Post No. 7720.

Mr. Adams died Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Born Sept. 7, 1927, in Habersham County, he was a son of the late Lafayette A. and Mamie Landers Adams.

He was a retired U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a retired farmer. Mr. Adams was the owner of Adams Rib Restaurant in Clarkesville for 28 years and he was a member of many civic and charitable organizations, including Grant Reeves VFW Post No. 7720, Habersham County American Legion Post No. 84, Clarkesville Lions Club, Toccoa Elks Lodge No. 1820, the Cooties Masonic Lodge No. 324, Clarkesville Royal Arch Masons Chapter 67, Yaarab Shrine Temple and the American Angus Association. Mr. Adams was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Margie H. Adams of Clarkesville; daughters, Gina Adams of Hampton, Va., Ann Seay of Baldwin, and Jane Powell of Sautee; son, Bill Watts of Clarkesville; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and his loving dog Harvey Jack.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Habersham County Veterans War Memorial, c/o Monty Ramey, 315 Willow Tree Ave., Baldwin, GA 30511.
