Funeral services for Mary Magdelene Lewallen Brown, 87, of Homer, are scheduled for 11 a.m. today, July 11, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with Arthur Howard, minister, and the Rev. Christopher Porter officiating. Burial will follow in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Brown died Tuesday, July 8, 2014.

Born April 18, 1927, in Banks County, she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Nora Lawrence Lewallen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Noah Richmond Brown; son, Jacky N. Brown; daughter, Linda Brown; sisters, Velma Stewart, Roberta Glozier; and brothers, Talmadge Lewallen and Billy Lewallen.

Mrs. Brown was the co-owner of Brown’s Shoe Shop in Cornelia, prior to which she was employed at Carwood Manufacturing Company and Banks County Elementary School working in the cafeteria. She was a member of Habersham Church of Christ.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Maxine Brown and Don Lord of Commerce, Peggy Brown and Arthur Howard of Homer; sister, Averene Rigsby of Merryville, La.; brothers, Woodrow Lewallen of Homer, Regis Lewallen of Baldwin, Edward Lewallen of Shady Dale; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
