A memorial service for Thomas Newton Lumsden Jr., 59, of Nacoochee, was conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, at Clarkesville Presbyterian Church, Clarkesville, with a reception to follow.

Mr. Lumsden died July 19, 2014, as the result of a heart attack.

Born March 25, 1955, in Clarkesville, he was a son of Dr. Thomas and India Lumsden.

Mr. Lumsden graduated in 1972 from Westminster Schools in Atlanta, and attended Duke University on a Naval ROTC scholarship. He later graduated from Piedmont College and was on staff at Habersham Home in Demorest for many years. Tom was an avid writer and chess player.

Tom was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Thomas N. Lumsden Sr.

He is survived by his mother, India Dyer Lumsden; sister and brother-in-law, Bunny and Steve Winter, sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Chris Geidel, and brother and sister-in-law, John and Kay Lumsden, all of Sautee-Nacoochee. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
