A celebration of life for Bernice A. Owensby-Clowers, 98, will be held at Cannon Wood Village at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25, at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Forest Park. Ms. Owensby-Clowers of Cannon Wood Village in Tiger, went to be with Jesus, Saturday, May 4, 2019.
She was born Nov. 8, 1920 on a farm in Elbert County, to Willaim Lathier Aycock and Myrtle Welborn Aycock.
Bernice worked in Dispersing at Fort McPherson in Atlanta as Finance Officer for 20-plus years.
She is preceded in death by parents, William Lathier and Myrtle Welborn Aycock; daughter, Bonnie Karen Montgomery; husband, Robert Jackson Owensby; husband, Robert Clowers; two sisters, and three brothers.
Surviving are daughter, Gail Owensby Lee and husband, A. Gene Lee of Clayton; grandsons, Justin Lee (Ashley) of Augusta, Dan Foust (Laurel) of Locust Grove, Steven Jay Foust (Dawn) of Forsyth, Timothy Foust of Milner; granddaughters, Gina Lee Fulghum (Chuck) of Forest Park, Jodie Lee Bazemore (Reid) of Covington; 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, one niece, and five nephews.
She had many hobbies such as gardening, playing the dulcimer, piano and violin, bird watching, and visiting grave sites of her ancestors. Bernice was a woman of strong faith and a great servant of God, known for her kind and compassionate spirit.
She was a life-long member of First Baptist Church of Forest Park.
