The Habersham County Chamber of Commerce has been gathering supplies for Habersham County School System’s 55 new educators.
With a hint of Habersham hospitality, the “new teacher bags” aim to welcome the new teachers into the school system.
The blue totes, supplied by the chamber, will contain tumblers, dry-erase markers, pens, pencils, notepads and other essential items to begin one’s teaching career in the Habersham County School System.
Local businesses are requested to pitch in with gift cards, company swag, and other valuable items for the new teachers to use in the classroom.
“We want our incoming teachers to feel the love of Habersham and show them how much we appreciate their work in our community,” Chamber Marketing Coordinator Alex Michelle said. “We’re making these goody bags to help lighten their load and get them excited for the new school year.”
Donations for the goodie bags will continue until Monday, July 24, and the new teachers will receive them during their first work week before the school year begins on Aug. 4.
