Food drive for soup kitchen
Red Bird Design Co. is working with Bourbon House Trading Co., Time Piece Studio, and several other local businesses to benefit the Clarkesville Soup Kitchen. The food drive was extended through Dec. 8. As a “thank you” for your contributions, you’ll receive 1 ticket per every 5 food items donated and a chance to win a gift donated from one of several local businesses in a raffle. Many of our locals would go hungry if it weren’t for the soup kitchen. Help us help those that are hungry in our community – together, we can make a difference! Any non-perishable food goods are much appreciated, such as canned veggies, fruits, soups, meats, dried rice, and beans. Food items can be dropped to Time Piece Studio (101 Demorest Square Ste. D, Demorest) or at The Northeast Georgian in Cornelia.

CASA seeks volunteers
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Needed! Northeast Georgia is seeking volunteers to be advocates for children in foster care in their eight-county service area. Advocates help to inform the court of the child’s well-being and make recommendations for the best interest of the child. Children with an advocate do better in school, receive more appropriate services and find permanent homes more readily. CASAs come from all walks of life and are a valuable protection for the most at risk youth in our community. Training to be a CASA begins in January. Contact Chuck Taylor at Chuck.Taylor@northeastgacasa.org or call 706-886-1098 to learn more about how you can change a child’s story.
