Kids on Wheels returns Saturday: The Kids on Wheels free event will return to Clarkesville on Saturday, June 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Clarkesville Police Station. There will be all kinds of fun vehicles in which kids can cruise the show, or they can bring their own set of wheels. There will be classic cars, emergency response demonstrations and displays, forestry and more. Awards will be given at noon.
Yard sale and cookout: Cool Springs United Methodist Church youth will have a yard sale Friday and Saturday, June 17-18 from 8 a.m. until early afternoon in the air-conditioned fellowship hall. We will have sausage biscuits for breakfast and all-beef hotdogs for lunch. The yard sale items are from an estate and too many things to list. The church is located on Highway 17 North, five miles out of Clarkesville.
Men’s Bible Study in Clarkesville: Clarkesville Baptist Church men’s Bible Study will be held twice monthly from noon to 1 p.m. in the Family Life Center. On June 28, the program will continue studying “The Mulligan,” The Parable of a Second Chance. All are invited.
Vacation Bible School: Central Alliance Church in Mt. Airy will host Vacation Bible School on Monday through Thursday, June 20-24, from 9 a.m. to noon each day for children grades K-5. Pre-register online at caccma.church.
Love Family Reunion set: The 10th annual Love Family Reunion is scheduled for Saturday, June 18, at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Clarkesville. The event begins at 11 a.m. is open to all Love’s and especially those in the northeast and northwest areas of Georgia. Most of these Loves are descended from the same family, having migrated from Western N.C. to Northeast Georgia in the early 19th century. Food drive in Mt. Airy: There will be a Car Meet & Food Drive on Saturday, June 18, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 487 Dicks Hill Parkway, in Mt. Airy. Come out and donate to the food drive. Donations will go to the Open Door Pantry and homeless shelter. Vendor is Vintage Death and free BBQ will be served.
Photo club to meet: Foothills Photography Group, a club for photographers of all levels, will meet at 6:30 p.m., June 21, at the Visual Arts Building, North Georgia Technical College, Clarkesville Campus. The June Program is Bob McCree will present a photographic tour of New Zealand. The public is invited to each meeting on the third Tuesday of each month as well. Please come and check us out. Singing at Old Nacoochee: There will be a singing by the Clarke Kesler Group at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 26, at Old Nacoochee Baptist Church at 487 Hub Tatum Road in Sautee. All are welcome.
Theater camp coming this summer: Habersham Community Theater will hold a two-week day camp for children ages 6-12 on July 18-22 and 25-29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with auditions on July 16 at 12:30 p.m. Children will learn all about theater and what it takes to put on a great show as they prepare “Honk! Clarkesville Sip & Stroll: The next Sip & Stroll is Friday, July 1, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in the Downtown Clarkesville entertainment district. This recurring event will take place on the first Friday of every month through October. Participating businesses will have extended business hours/drink specials, there will be live entertainment.
Veterans & Patriots meeting set for July: The Northeast Georgia Brotherhood of Veterans & Patriots will meet on Saturday July 16. Breakfast will be served at 8:30 a.m. and the program will begin at 9 a.m. Jim Morgan, the speaker, served in the army in counterintelligence. Donald Crowe is providing the meal in memory of his dad, PFC Roy E. Crowe a WWII army veteran who served in a tank battalion in the European theater and in honor of his brother, Danny Crowe who served in the navy in Vietnam. We will meet in the fellowship hall of Cornelia First Baptist Church.
