Habersham County Sheriff’s deputies rescued a kidnapping victim Tuesday morning thanks to modern technology.
Around 5:20 a.m. Tuesday, Habersham County Dispatch received a notification from a personal security app that a person was in distress and needed assistance from law enforcement, a release by the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies were informed that the car the woman was in was a grey sedan headed northbound on Highway 365 in Habersham County. The app provides live data to the dispatcher on the GPS location of the person in distress.
Habersham County deputies intercepted the vehicle near the intersection of Highway 15 and Antioch Church Road in Clarkesville. They interviewed a male driver – Dalton Ramsey of Buckhannon, West Virginia – and a female passenger. The driver and passenger were separated and the woman told deputies that she was being held by the driver against her will.
Habersham County Sheriff’s Office Deputies took the driver into custody and arrested him on a charge of false imprisonment. The investigation is still ongoing.
