A service for Ann Hubbuch Matthews, 78, of Cornelia, will be held at Hillside Chapel in Clarkesville Saturday, Oct. 15. Service begins at 1p.m. with visitation at 12:30 p.m.

Mrs. Matthews passed away Oct. 6, 2022.

Born in 1944, in Birmingham, Alabama. Raised with her sister, Martha, in Florence, Alabama,

Ann later obtained an English degree from The University of Alabama before spending some time in Washington, D.C. The greater part of Ann's career was spent as secretary for C&S Bank in Atlanta. There she lived with her husband, David Matthews, where they raised their son, Benjamin. In 1996 Ann moved with her family to Cornelia.

Ann's passions included gardening, reading, needlework, traveling, cooking, and most remembered by friends - entertaining. She and her husband of 50 years were consummate hosts and entertainers all the way to the ends of their lives. This intelligent, amusing, and loving woman made an excellent mother and friend who will indeed be missed by those that knew her, especially by her surviving son and sister.

In lieu of flowers, please send any donations for the deceased to the Cornelia Public Library.

Arrangements are in the care and professional direction of Hillside Memorial Chapel & Gardens, Clarkesville.
