Funeral services for Bruce Taylor Lower, 85, of Clarkesville, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 14, at Clarkesville First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Keith Cox and the Rev. Phil Demore will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church Sunday where the body will lie in state from 2 p.m. until the service hour. Interment will take place at a later date in Veterans National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.

Mr. Lower passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021.

Born Feb. 9, 1936, in Sebring, Ohio, he was the son of the late William W. and Thelma Burrell Lower. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Lower (US Army, Lt. Col, Ret.), John E. Lower, and Richard N. Lower; and sisters, Virginia Libengood and Melba Whittacre.

Mr. Lower earned a BA in Business from Mount Union University and a MBA from Indiana University. He was employed with U.S. Steel in Pittsburgh, then was the Northeastern United States Reginal Controller for Sealtest Foods, later becoming Vice President and Treasurer for Farm Best Foods. Mr. Lower was last Vice President and major shareholder for ESP, an environmental service and permitting firm based out of Gainesville, Florida. Mr. Lower was a United States Army Veteran and was a member of Clarkesville First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Carolyn Sue Gartrell Lower of Clarkesville; sons, Brian Taylor Lower (Janet) of Winter Park, Florida, and Gregory Bruce Lower (Carolyn) of St. Johns, Florida; daughter, Erin Elizabeth Lower Blum of Chanhassen, Minnesota; sister, Billie C. Burky of Yuba City, California; grandchildren, Bruce Taylor Lower (Ines) of Orlando, Florida, Mark Joseph Lower (Michele) of Winter Garden, Florida, Jamie Marie Calhoun (Steven) of Winter Park, Florida, Dayle Elizabeth Lower of Winter Park, Florida, Catherine Elizabeth Lower of Mobile, Alabama, Sarah Caroline Lower of St. Johns, Florida, and Alexandra Ann Blum of Chanhassen, Minnesota; great-grandchild, Sebastian Lower; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clarkesville First United Methodist Church Bus Fund, P.O. Box 365, Clarkesville, GA 30523, or to Habersham Christian Learning Center, 188 Owens Circle, Mt. Airy, GA 30563.
