Funeral services for Charlene Messier Chastain, 77, of Eastanollee, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at Hillside Memorial Chapel with Pastor Larry Brown and Pastor Chad Shook officiating. Interment will follow in the Harvest Christian Church cemetery.

Mrs. Chastain went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022.

Born Nov. 2, 1944, in Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Phyllis Cota Messier. In addition to her parents, Charlene was preceded in death by her daughter, Jan Bussey Hearn.

Charlene retired as a pre-K teacher with First United Methodist Church of Barnesville after many years of dedicated service. In her spare time, she enjoyed working in her yard and tending to her flower gardens. Charlene enjoyed precious time with her husband, Bud, and their family. Most of all, she loved the Lord.

Survivors include her loving husband of 22 years, Perry Bud Chastain of Eastanollee; daughters, Jill Bussey of Demorest, Jodi Bussey Ansalve of Concord, and Jennifer Chastain and Kristy (Mark) Caudell all of Cornelia; son, Cheyenne (Chasity) Chastain of Demorest; brothers, Chuck (Paula) Messier, Kenney (Judy) Messier, and Tommy (Cathy) Messier all of Tampa, Florida and Richard (Michelle) Messier of Madison, Tennessee; sisters, P.J. (Jim) Sipes of Springfield and Cheryl (Mac) Macaluso of Madison, Tennessee; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday.
