Graveside services for Edith Stonecypher Gailey, 83, of Alto, were held Tuesday, May 3, at the Hills Crossing Baptist Church cemetery. The Rev. Walter Singletary officiated.

Mrs. Gailey went home to be with the Lord Saturday, April 30, 2022.

Born Jan. 3, 1939, in Clarkesville, she was a daughter of the late Cline and Daisy Ivester Stonecypher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bobby Smith; second husband, Mitchell Gailey; son, Mike Reed; granddaughter, Lauren Howard; and son-in-law, Joe Irvin.

Edith was a graduate of North Habersham High School, class of 1957. She was the former manager of Stoney's Family Restaurant in Clarkesville for most of her adult life. Edith was a volunteer for many years with Habersham Soup Kitchen and Habersham Medical Center where she was recognized as Volunteer of the Year. She was a member of Hills Crossing Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children, Angie Irvin and fiancé, Frank McClung of Flowery Branch, Dean and Beverly Smith of Alto, Tammy and Andy Poole of Gainesville, and Kim and Reggie Hulsey of Mount Airy; stepson, Chris Gailey of Austin, Texas; daughter-in-law, Kathy Reed of Hartselle, Alabama; grandchildren, Justin Irvin of Monroeville, Pennsylvania, Jason Irvin of Mount Airy, Chelsea Smith Honeycutt and Zack Honeycutt of Asheville, North Carolina, Christy Smith of Alexandria, Virginia, Amanda Poole of Gainesville, Chase Poole of Alexandria, Virginia, Nicholas Poole of Gainesville, Dalton Hulsey of Mount Airy, Miranda and Chad Edwards of Demorest, Mike and Chasity Reed of Hartselle, Alabama, Becca and Adrian Miller of Hartselle, Alabama, Tiffany and Dakota Bennett of Lubbock, Texas, and Matthew Gailey of Prescott, Arizona; and other relatives and friends.
