Funeral services for George Thomas Aycock, 86, of Alto, were held Thursday, Dec. 12, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, with the Rev. Raymond Fortner officiating. Interment followed in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Aycock passed away Monday, Dec. 9, 2019, following an extended illness.

Born Sept. 25, 1933, in Anderson, South Carolina, he was the son of the late James and Ruth Aycock.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Pauline Aycock; daughter, Alisa Dolores Aycock Thomas; brothers, Bill, Charles, Melvin and Jerry Aycock, and Buddy Griffith.

Mr. Aycock was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He was retired from Schnadig with 46 years of loyal and dedicated service.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 64 years, Verna  Aycock of Alto; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Donna Aycock of Aiken, South Carolina; son-in-law, Tim Thomas of Alto; two sisters, Mayzelle Mauldin of Mt. Airy and Claudette Aycock of Cornelia;  grandchildren, Rylee Thomas, Corey Aycock and wife, Kimberly, and Katie Reynolds; great-grandchildren, Ainslee Aycock and Quinn Reynolds.  

Memorials may be made to Alto Baptist Church, New Hope Baptist Church, or the charity of one's choice.
