Funeral services for Joan Brenda Allen White, 79, of Cornelia, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with the Rev. Dennis Dills officiating. Interment will follow in the Victory Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Shane Jenkins officiating.
Mrs. White passed away Sunday, May 22, 2022.
Born Nov. 15, 1942, in Demorest, she was a daughter of the late Cecil Allen and Carrie Sybel Irvin Allen. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by sister, Ruthie Allen Irvin.
Joan managed textile mills for Outerwear, Academy Garment Company, and Gillsville Manufacturing and later retired as a bookkeeper for Yearwood Logging. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, singing, playing the guitar, cooking, and reading. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Danette White Canfield (Scott) of Lavonia and Andrea White Irvin (Drew) of Baldwin; grandchildren, Kayla Leverette (Brandon), Meagan Lovell, Abby Irvin, Maggie Irvin, and Jack Irvin; great-grandchildren, Evan Leverette and Bryan Leverette; brother and sister-in-law, Keith Allen (Teresa) of Mt. Airy; sister and brother-in-law, Jo Beth McConnell (William) of Clarkesville; brother-in-law, Bobby Irvin of Baldwin; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
