Memorial services for John David Boonstra, 64, of Cornelia, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at Cornelia 1st Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Andy S. Chambers officiating. 

Mr. Boonstra passed away Friday, Nov. 29, 2019, at his residence. 

Born Aug. 14, 1955, in Chuburt, Argentina, he was a son of Natalie Van Vliet Boonstra of Houston, Texas and the late Juan Samuel Boonstra. 

Mr. Boonstra was the owner and operator of several Subway restaurants. He was an elder and active member of Cornelia 1st Presbyterian Church. In his spare time, Mr. Boonstra enjoyed time with his family, grilling, golfing, reading, and working on his '73 Ford Bronco. 

In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife of 38 years, Brenda Boonstra of Cornelia; children and spouses, J.B. and Abby Boonstra of Orlando, Florida, Christen Boonstra of Athens, Nicole and Clay Scott of Smyrna, Joe Boonstra and Dylan Boonstra, both of Cornelia; grandchildren, Juniper and Ezra Boonstra and Waylyn Scott; siblings and spouses, Ric and Marlene Boonstra of Chicago, Illinois, Peter and Mary Boonstra of Crete, Illinois, and Natalie Anne and Mike Mantel of Houston, Texas. 

The family will receive friends at the church Sunday, Dec. 8, from 2 to 4 p.m.
