Funeral services for John L. Gray, 88, of Tallulah Falls, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, June 17, at Hillside Memorial Chapel in Clarkesville. Military honors will be provided by Grant Reeves Honor Guard. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Gray went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 14, 2022.

Born Aug. 16, 1933, in Shreveport, Louisiana, he was a son of the late Rev. Luzell M. and Gladys Hale Gray. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Cara Gray; brothers, David Gray and Bob Gray; as well as sister, Joanne Anderson.

John served his country proudly in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He began his career with Georgia Power in 1956 and transferred his family to Tallulah Falls in 1961. Before retirement, John served as manager for the North Georgia Hydro Group. He was a very active member of the Tallulah Falls community for many years where he was a member of Tallulah Falls Lions Club, Citizens of Georgia Power Group, Ambassadors of Georgia Power, and Tallulah Falls Baptist Church.

Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Era Faye Owens Gray; sons and daughters-in-law, Dayne and Irene Gray, Dale and Dee Dee Gray, and Greg and Debra Gray; sisters, Betty Truitt, Pauline Parrish, and Frances Driver; grandchildren, Nikki Smith (Todd), Chad Gray, Matthew Gray (Leann), John Gray, Cara Hedge (Michael), and Ashley Abrahamian (Roy); great-grandchildren, Nick Smith, Hayden Smith, Titus Ingram, Kenlee Hedge, Crayton Smith, Ansley Gray, Grayson Smith, Austin Gray, and Sarah Kate Smith; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until the service hour Friday.
