A private family graveside service will be held for Lieutenant Colonel "Coach" Curtis Williams, 68, of Clarkesville.

Mr. Williams went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 17, 2022.

Born Jan. 22, 1954, in Clarkesville, he was a son of the late Shubert and Australia Blair Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Williams Galloway and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lewis and Dorothy Jane Strickland Waldrop.

Curtis was a graduate of Habersham Central High School, class of 1972, an undergraduate of Piedmont College, and a graduate of North Georgia College where he received his Masters degree in Education. He was a veteran of the Georgia Army National Guard, having served his country proudly with 28 years of dedicated service. Curtis retired from Habersham County School System where he taught physical education and coached football for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outdoors, traveling, walking, golfing, and was an avid sports enthusiast. Most of all, he enjoyed precious time with his family and was affectionately known as "Pop Pop" to his six grandchildren. Curtis attended Free Chapel Worship Center of Gainesville.

Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Lynn Waldrop Williams of Clarkesville; son and daughter-in-law, Luke and Erin Williams of Demorest; daughter and son-in-law, Leigh and Mark Teixeira of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Gus, Mack and Hattie Williams, all of Demorest, and Jack, Addy, and Will Teixeira, all of Austin, Texas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert Carl and Beth Williams of Toccoa and Ricky and Joan Williams of Clarkesville and Howard and Marcia Williams, sister, Annie Mae Williams Crawford, and brother-in-law, Joe Galloway, all of Mount Airy; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
