A memorial service for Mary Ellen "Mimi" Mallon, 96, of Clarkesville, will be held at 11 a.m., July 8, at Clarkesville Baptist Church.

Mrs. Mallon passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Habersham East Nursing Home in Demorest from a massive stroke.

Born Aug. 20,1925 in Natrona, Pennsylvania, she was one of seven children born to the late Peter and Catherine Seagriff who immigrated to the states from Scotland and Ireland in 1919. Her siblings Marie, Susan, Thomas, John, Frank, and Jim all preceded her in death.

During World War II, Mary worked as a welder on ships in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania among other jobs until becoming a beautician in her own shop to support her children. She remarried in 1961 to Thomas Mallon who is now deceased.

Mary became a Christian in California in the late '70s and joined Clarkesville Baptist Church when moving to Georgia in 1996. Mimi spent many hours creating decorations for the church through the years as well as helping in the church kitchen until her health declined. She was also a sanctuary choir member.

Mimi, at times, lived in Florida with her eldest daughter, Kasey, as well as being a Clarkesville resident with her youngest daughter, Lee. Mimi leaves many dear friends from Silver Sneakers, Gordon and Sandy Tomb and Barb Solen.

Mimi is survived by three children, Kay Ellen (Kasey) Murphy and spouse, Richard of Winter Springs Florida, James Leach and spouse, Patty of Curwensville, Pennsylvania, and Allena (Lee) Davis and spouse, Ross of Clarkesville. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

A special thank you to Pruitt Health Hospice for providing such great care for not only Mimi, but for the family. Another special thank you to Asher Maurer at Habersham East Nursing Home, an L.P.N. who was with Mimi and family every step of the way. Words cannot express our appreciation.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Clarkesville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 667, Clarkesville, GA 30523.

Habersham Crematory of Cornelia is in charge of arrangements.
