A memorial celebration to honor Russell Gorr, 90, of Cornelia, will be held in Jan. 2020 for friends and family to pay respects to and share fond memories. Interment of his ashes will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery located at 1090 Carmalt Street, Dickson City, PA 18519. 

Mr. Gorr passed away peacefully in his sleep and surrounded by family Dec.15, 2019, at his home.

Russell grew up in Livingston Manor, New York. He was the son of the late Lillianne Abenes and Earl J. Gorr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, John E. Gorr of Jackson, New Jersey, and Russell Gorr of Princeton, New Jersey; his daughter, Barbara Gorr Klimash of Mayfield, Pennsylvania; his stepson, James Buddy Lee; and his brother, Earl "Bucky" J. Gorr.  

He was a proud veteran of the Navy, serving in the Korean War from 1950 through 1954 as an Engineer on Naval aircraft vessels. He went on to obtain an Electrical Engineering degree from Trenton State College (now known as The College of New Jersey) in Ewing, Pennsylvania.   

He held various production management, and engineering positions throughout his career at steel, transformer, and meter manufacturing plants including Weston Instruments (Newark, New Jersey), Ideal Precision Meter Company (New York, New York), Federal Steel Corporation (Bethlehem, Pennsylvania), Lambda, Inc (Gouldsboro, Pennsylvania), and Crestline, Inc (New Jersey). Russell enjoyed flipping houses, hunting, and sharing stories of his family who will miss him dearly.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Betty to whom he was married for 14 years.  Russell leaves behind his legacy in his son, Robert Gorr and his wife, Denise Tenore Gorr of Middlesex, New Jersey; his loving grandchildren, Erin, Colleen, and Kevin Gorr, Robert and Natalie Gorr, and Matthew and Carly Klimash; and daughter-in-law, Ann Eyler Gorr of Avon-By-The-Sea, New Jersey (formerly Jackson, New Jersey).  Russell is also survived by his siblings, Gladys Baker of Oakridge, New Jersey, Kenneth John Gorr of Demorest, and Carol Keelon of Palm City, Florida; and half-siblings, Edward Gorr, Karen Smith, Howard Gorr, and Norah Reising; his wife Betty's children and family members, Babs and Vermont Labrador, Deanna and Wayne Hicks, and Brett Ratliff; along with Betty's grandchildren, Jordan, Braxton, Kindslee, and Brooklyn Hicks, and Julia Ratliff, that all played a supportive role in Russell's life over the 14 years spent in the Cornelia  area.
