A private celebration of life service for Ruth Maynard Smith, 80, of Cornelia, will be held.
Mrs. Smith passed away Sunday, May 16, 2021.
Born March 6, 1941, in Raleigh, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Maynard and Mattie Carpenter Maynard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Ray Bragg and Joann Moore.
Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 50 years, Jim Smith of Cornelia; daughter, Stacey Smith Ansley of Baldwin; son, James Courtney Smith of Oak Ridge, North Carolina; daughter, Tearesa Adams of Midlothian, Texas; son, Charles Jackson of Tampa, Florida; sister, Jean Brook, of Vidalia; twelve grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Georgia Sheriff's' Boys Ranch, 5671 Boys Ranch Rd, Hahira, GA 31632, or to Circle of Hope, P.O. Box 833, Cornelia, GA 30531.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitfield Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel, Baldwin.
