Funeral services for Tommy Lee Free, 75, of Alto, were held Thursday, May 12, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel. Pastor Ray Davis and Pastor Anthony Shore officiated. Interment followed in the Crossroads Baptist Church cemetery where Mr. Gary Clark officiated.

Mr. Free went home to be with the Lord Sunday, May 8, 2022.

Mr. Free was born Jan. 29, 1947, in Habersham County, to the late Henry Clyde Free and Ethel P. Free Luthi. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Shannon Lee Free; brother and sister-in-law, Eddie and Mary Free; brother, Crawford Free; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Odell and Zine Bell Wade; and sister-in-law, Linda Pritchett.

Mr. Free was of the Baptist faith. Tommy was a volunteer fireman for the City of Cornelia for many years. He was retired from the Housing Authority with 25 years of service. Tommy loved all things that involved racing and was the crew chief for A&F Motor Sports for car # 14A.

Survivors include his loving wife, Annette Wade Free of Alto; daughter and significant other, Pepper Adams and Dennis Gearin of Homer; Yvonne Brock of Mt. Airy; son and daughter-in-law, Heath and Tracie Free of Cornelia; grandchildren, Caden Free, Christopher Crane, Celita Crane; several great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Doug and Darlene Wade, Doug and Brenda Ayers, and David and Jeanette Masters; brother-in-law, Wendell Pritchett; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Tommy's nurse, Jane Thayer and aids, Samantha Anderson and Margaret Grant.

Arrangements were entrusted to Whitfield Funeral Homes & Crematory, South Chapel, Baldwin.
