A celebration of life service for Virginia "Ginny" Chase Kelly, 83, is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, at Clarkesville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Grady Walden officiating.

Mrs. Kelly passed away Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021. She died peacefully, surrounded by members of her family. She was a special woman, loved by many and she will be sorely missed.

Born July 21, 1938, in Atlanta, called "Ginny-Boo" by her father, she was one of two children. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Chase and Bitsy Cox Chase. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Lee Amason; and a daughter-in-law, Cricket Amason.

Ginny went to North Fulton High School, before attending college at Wesleyan in Macon, and then graduating from Oglethorpe University in Brookhaven, with a degree in education. Over the course of her life she taught school, was a horse trainer, riding instructor, show horse rider, and a licensed social worker in both Georgia and Florida. She was exceptional and multi-talented, a singer in shows and choirs and a performer on the stages of many community theaters. She raised five children, all of whom grew to be successful adults and children of their own. Called "Nana" by her 11 grandchildren, she loved being a grandmother, and her grandchildren loved her. She will be remembered for many things but mostly for her love, her creativity.  Her passing will leave a vacuum in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. And so, it is with great sorrow and respect that we note her passing and honor her life.

Surviving are her husband, Edward Pat Kelly of Cornelia; brother, Charles Buzz Chase Jr. of Marietta; sonsv and daughters-in-law, Allen Amason of Statesboro,  Andy and Carole Amason of Valona, and Matthew and Erica Amason of Richmond Hill; daughter and son-in law, Bitsy and Kurt Bernat of Conifer, Colorado; daughter-in-law, Tia Amason of Acworth; 11 grandchildren; five great- grandchildren, a niece and a nephew.

Those in attendance are asked to please adhere to the public health and social distancing guidelines regarding COVID-19.
