A Maysville man died Wednesday from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle crash on Cannon Bridge Road in Cornelia a day earlier.
Corey Dearing, 40, was driving a 2007 Kenworth Construction tow truck south on Cannon Bridge Road when the truck crossed into the northbound lane, overcorrected and went off the west shoulder down an embankment. The truck, belonging to KBS Towing, overturned on its top in a creek bed.
Dearing was seriously injured when first responders arrived and was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Dearing, a father of six children, passed away Wednesday afternoon.
His wife Crystal said he was trapped in the cab underwater for 20-30 minutes before being found unconscious. His heart had stopped beating and his lungs were filled with debris and blood and water from the creek, Crystal said in a request for prayers on social media.
“I am in disbelief and hurting for our kids and family. Without my rock. He is our loving daddy to our six kids and my other half for life,” Crystal said.
