Funeral services for James Allen "Buster" Ferguson, 72, of Baldwin, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Hillside Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth McEntire officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Baptist Church cemetery in Baldwin with his son, the Rev. Dexter Ferguson, officiating at the graveside.

Mr. Ferguson went home to be with the Lord Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022 at his residence following an extended illness.

Born Oct. 7, 1949, at Arrendale Hospital in Cornelia, he was a son of the late Thomas Silvia and Martha Melinda Maxwell Ferguson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Sergeant Ethan Painter; brother, Charles Ferguson; niece, Cathy Mauldin; nephews, Jeff Haynie and Eddie Ferguson; and great-nephew, Tyler Ferguson.

Buster was in the construction industry for most of his life. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Buster was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his children, Vivian Dorsey of Clarkesville, Missy and Scott Painter of Eastanollee, the Rev. Dexter Ferguson and fiancé, Maureen Shelnut of Cleveland, and Rhett Ferguson and fiancé, Kylie Turner of Salina, Utah; grandchildren, Jessie Painter, Trent Morgan, Trevor Morgan, Hannah Morgan, and Mila Turner; great-grandson, Eli Morgan; sisters and brother-in-law, Angie Haynie of Crawford and Rebecca and Carter Brock and Anthony and Rachel Ferguson, all of Baldwin; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
