Funeral services for Kenneth Eugene Gordon, 81, of Demorest, were held Thursday, Sept. 22, at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Dr. Craig Ward and the Rev. Chip Cranford officiated. Interment followed in the church cemetery with military honors provided by The United States Air Force and Grant Reeves Honor Guard.
Mr. Gordon went to his heavenly home Monday, Sept. 19, 2022.
Born Oct. 3, 1940, in Banks County, he was a son of the late Frank Eugene and Mary Elizabeth Rice Gordon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant brother and infant sister.
Mr. Gordon was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He was active in churches throughout his life having served as a deacon and on the audiovisual team, teaching Mission Friends and the three-year-old Sunday school class, and was also an RA leader. Mr. Gordon retired with 25 years of loyal and dedicated service from the Xerox Corporation. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Mr. Gordon was a graduate of Southern Technical Institute.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Cheryl Tench Gordon of Demorest; daughter and son-in-law, Geri Gordon and Craig Keener of McDonough; sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin Eugene and Melanie Gordon of Demorest and Steven Anthony and Chrissa Gordon of Savannah; nine grandchildren and their spouses; and three great-grandchildren.
