Habersham Central High School said goodbye to the Class of 2023 on Friday night as the stands of the John Larry Black Field were packed with friends, parents and supporters from every end of the county to celebrate the graduates. The ceremony honored 491 students Friday, and each and every one of them is well deserving of that support.
Kicking off the speeches, McKenzie Chitwood, senior class public relations officer, was in charge of holding a moment of reflection as well as an opening prayer.
“What I love most about Habersham Central is we’re not only a community, but a family born and raised here. I’ve grown to know many of the people in this stadium tonight, and we wouldn’t be here without you all. As I reflect, I would also like to take a moment to remember those family members, friends and classmates that are no longer here with us. Some special people may not be here today, but they will never be forgotten. … I encourage each of you to be different, set yourself apart and use what Habersham Central has taught you to have a successful life. We have reached the end of a chapter, but a whole new one is about to begin,” Chitwood said.
