Mayor Barrie Aycock's last Clarkesville City Council meeting was Dec. 8, 2025. Aycock was elected to the Clarkesville City Council in 2013, with her term starting in January 2014. She resigned in January 2016 to run for mayor in a special election, and began her term as mayor in March 2016.

So after she recovered from stage 3 cancer, which she was diagnosed with at the age of 38 in 2009, she got right back to work for the good of others. Her perseverance has now led her to raise funds to enable at-risk and underserved women to have access to lifesaving mammogram screenings for a second year in a row.
