Funeral services for Carolyn Louise Smith Britt, 89, of Gainesville, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, at Hillside Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Josh Taylor and the Rev. Lanny Richardson officiating. Interment will follow the service in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in the Batesville Community, Clarkesville.
Mrs. Britt passed away Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Born Sept. 15, 1932, in Atlanta, Mrs. Britt was the daughter of the late Gid L. and Vivian Johnson Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Early Britt; brother and sister-in-law, Herbert and LaVerne Smith; and brother, Doyle Smith.
Mrs. Britt was a homemaker and she enjoyed flower gardening and spending time with her children, grands and greats. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, Tony Britt (Kathy) of Monticello; daughters, Dianne Parker (Bill) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Barbara Clyburn (Jim) of Gainesville, Carol Britt of Gainesville, and Kathy Lee of Tampa, Florida; sister, Jo Shaw of Gainesville; sister-in-law, Rita Smith of Prattville, Alabama; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, prior to the service from 1 until 2 p.m.
